Multiple watches with one iPhone?

I currently have a cheap exercise/whatever watch and a nice work/dress watch.

Is there any info on how many Apple Watches can be paired with an iPhone? Getting the sport as a gift, and want the stainless for nice work/dress watch. I love my iPhone 6+, but the watch seems incredibly useful as I wouldn't have to pull the phone out for every notification or simple interaction.

First world problem I know. But I haven't seen the answer anywhere.

For those who are interested, I tried on both watches and asked if multiple watches could pair with one iPhone. The sales guy originally said no, but they were hoping for a software update as he also wanted to do the same thing.

He then called someone to check while I was playing with the watches, and said that it did now work. I'll provide an update in 4-6 weeks.
