Can you enable multitasking gestures for the iPad 1 in iOS 5 beta 6?

No, the multitasking gestures have been completely removed from the iPad 1 and cannot be re-enabled without a jailbreak.

this seems to be causing a quite a bit of confusion on the developer forums as well. no one seems to know what apples intentions are as the iOS 5 web page does not specify that the gestures are for iPad 2 only.

i really do hope they change their mind though, they were very useful.

i don't know why you guys are missing out, but i jail broke my iPad 1 for this exact purpose, the multi gestures do awesome! i don't have to touch the home button ever, 4 swipes up to show the multitasking, 4 finger pinch to close the app, 4 finger swipe left to go to the next app, its offing useful! you guys should totally jailbreak it :D

Same here.
The only reason I JB'd my iPad1 is the multi-touch gestures. They're simply awesome.

Install XCode, pop the iPad into developer mode and enable the gestures using the settings menu.
No JB required, working fine on my 16GB iPad 1. iOS 4.3

Sorry, just read the ios 5 part, my bad.
