Looks like my mum's 6S is on its way out, at least needs some repair as the screen has gone totally haywire.

Is there any way of restoring the full iTunes backup to a 6? If I remember right, you can only restore to a same or later phone iOS version, obviously the 6 is too old for that - is there any solution?

Thanks!

There is third-party software out there that may be able to help, but through iTunes? No.

If the 6s is on a later version of firmware than what the 6 is running it's not possible.

Anything in iCloud should transfer though, but only after logging in under a new setup.

Haha I would but we don't have £400 lying around just now... I will check out our local repair place!

There’s used iPhone 7s around for 100-120£ if that’s within your price range.

I am always wary of 2nd hand uphones - where do people recommend looking..?
Amazon renewed are considered pretty good. This one is £150 so a bit more expensive than from ebay where you can get one for £100, but surely more reliable. They come with 1 year warranty of sorts which ensures a replacement or refund if there's an issue.

Every phone I've had has been through eBay. For the last 10+ years.
- I only get phones with good and thorough pics to see any damage. Never ones with poor pics or using generic pics. Examine the pics.
- Read the description carefully. For listed flaws, example or representative picture.
- Stick with sellers with good seller feedback.
- listing 100% battery is a plus on iPhones. Unfortunately Android doesn't offer that feedback as far as I'm aware.
- Free returns is a must have for me on phones
- I prefer power sellers who focus on phones. Mainly because they know to list damages to reduce returns. Plus I don't want to waste time looking through tons of listings and bidding. The tiny savings of an auction isn't worth the hassle.
- I prefer ebay to Amazon for phones as it's usually cheaper and I can see the phone. Amazon sellers will say refurbished and send you a phone which definitely isn't worthy of the title.

I have a old 6s. New screen and battery. Apple did battery and screen done by a screen replacement store. They use hq screens.

If your in the US. it’s yours for $50. Has some road rash on the corners. Lmk

edit.

your in the uk. Offer is still there. Was a T-Mobile phone

Thanks for all the kind offers and help guys - in the end, we fired up the 6 and just iClouded stuff to it, it's got most of her photos, apps, whatsapp history, sadly missed some more recent contacts as her iCloud storage is full of photos, but it's fine as a stop gap solution while we sort something out!
