I've been recently working on a music remote app to fully exploit TouchBar possibilities, called Muse: https://github.com/xzzz9097/Muse.
The killer feature is the control strip injection that allows to keep the app always in the TouchBar, ready to your fingertips, without the need to summon it through keyboard shortcuts.

Of course the app works great on non-TB Macs as well. Another great bit is the Spotify account integration, that allows you to quickly save a track in your library with a single tap/keypress. All the informations and the full code are on the GitHub page.
