Music App - Artist Album Order Help

We all know the Music.app since iOS 7 (for most of us) as been a disaster. Due to the expanded view of the albums for artist, it's a PITA for people whom have artist with even 3 or 4 plus albums. For me, I love E-40 and have 16 of his albums.

My concern is the organization of the albums he's released since 2012, on my iPhone (top to bottom in the music app) it's organized like this (and it drive's me crazy). I have included the release date of the albums but it's not actually in the album title, it's just for reference.

Here is a horizontal screenshot how how it looks on my phone. Any help on how to correct this would be very much appreciated. I know I have to change some info in the SORT ALBUM column, but I don't know what to use to sort it properly.

So I noticed that when I go to the ALBUMS tab in the music.app its organized properly with NO changes what-so-ever.

But when I use the GENRES tab or ARTIST tab it's organizing by Year then Title in reverse chronological order.

I have no clue how to get the albums to appear in this order while in the GENRES tab or ARTIST tab:

I've tried every possible sort order I can think of and can't figure it out. I decided it was just easiest to change all of the Welcome to the Soil albums to year 2013.

Just a work around, but I got sick of trying.

Ever since iOS 7.1, when the sorting of albums in Artist view changed to reverse chronological order, the Music app (at least in Artist view) no longer adheres to the "Sort Album" column set in iTunes. Instead, it organizes by year, which is a problem if an artist released multiple albums released in one year, and for any compilation albums that can get incorrectly placed.

The good news is that there is a workaround. In Artist view, instead of tapping on the artist, access the artist by doing a search at the top of the Music app for E-40. By accessing through search, the view suddenly changes. Albums are sorted correctly and in ascending chronological order, reverting to the pre-7.1 behavior.

Why would they change to reverse chronological? Who in their right mind would want to listen to an artists albums in reverse order. Ughhh!

There are so many little irritating issues with the music app; putting albums in reverse chronological order, messing up artist art, seemingly having a mind-of-its-own to the order that tracks are listed in...

The music app does seem to need a bit of a rethink.

One tip - and an easy one - don't bother fighting the app to get the tracks in the "right" order, just create playlists in iTunes with the tracks in the correct order, then drag the playlist to your iOS device, and then just click on the playlist from the music app.

Then, at least, you will get the tracks in the order you want them!
