I have a strange problem with the storage space consumed by the Music app on my phone. For background, I am not subscribed to Apple Music, but I keep my owned music in the cloud via an iTunes Match subscription. After doing a clean install on my new phone the other day (i.e. not restored from a backup of my previous phone), I checked under Settings/General/iPhone Storage and saw that the Music app consumed almost 5GB, even though I haven't downloaded any songs. At first I thought it may be the album artwork, but on my Mac that consumes only a little over 1GB. Does anyone know what the app uses all that storage for?

It gets weirder: since I barely use the Music app on my phone these days (Spotify subscriber) I decided to delete it. But in the storage settings I now have a "ghost entry" with a little cloud, according to which the "deleted" Music app still consumes about 5GB. When I tap the delete button again, it goes away for a second and then reappears. How can I get rid of it?

PS: here's what I'm seeing under Settings/General/iPhone Storage after deleting the Music app:

When I tap on it:

I basically have this exact same issue, except on my phone it is the Reminders app. I have turned off iCloud. Removed the reminders that I have set. Offloaded and deleted the app. It shows the cloud and down arrow and it still says that there is 21.85GB of storage space being used by the app.

With all of the storage issues posts lately... I suspect it's a bug.

I have the same problem with the music app, after getting a new mini and transferring from my old X. On the X the music app used something like 150MB, while on the new mini it was suddenly 2.6GB.
I've tried deleting the music app (both the app itself, and the 'app and data'), but that doesn't do anything, because I'm left with the 'missing' icon entry on the storage list, still with the 2.6GB that cannot be deleted in any way. I used to 'clean' the hidden Music cache by manually deleting files using an 'iphone explorer' app (phoneview or something), but there's no trace of the cached files either.
Worse, I just decided to live with it and reinstalled the Music app... and now I still have the broken icon in the Siri Suggestions and on the Storage listing.
I really don't wanna zap the phone and restart from scratch, and I suspect it would be random anyway, because OP had the problem with a fresh install.

If anyone figures a solution please update!

So I believe the icon shows like that when you delete the app but not the data.
Go do settings -> general -> iPhone storage
music should be listed....delete your music there.
Uhm, that's where I took the screenshots, as the first line of my posting says. As mentioned in the first post, the app simply reappears if you try to delete it there.

Have the same problem on a fresh install on a mini 4. When you’ve only got 16 GB every GB counts!

Yes it’s weird. I just reset my
Phone and migrated from my old
Phone cause iCloud or anything backed up is ****ed.
