My son's iPhone has an issue where, when trying to play certain songs purchased through iTunes, the only thing it does is pop up [$!$@#$ing] annoying ad for Apple Music which (also, see attached) says, "Play this song and any other song you want. Join to listen to over 40 million songs and your entire music library on all your devices. Free for 3 months." The only options are to click on "Get 3 Months Free" or "Not Now". I don't *want* to listen to 40 million songs, I just want to listen to the music *we already purchased*! The Gestapo method of trying to ram Apple Music down my throat is really aggravating. Anyway, if I click on "Not Now", it closes the ad and doesn't play the song. (One of the strange things about it is that certain songs from an album will play without issue, while other ones won't.)

I've tried going into Settings>Music and disabling the "Show Apple Music" switch, and restarting the phone, but the problem persists.

Has anyone else who has experienced this found any solutions? My Google-fu and MacRumors-fu for searching has come up empty.

Thanks in advance for any help!

That song may have been downloaded on the device using a different iTunes account, if you’re 100% certain that you had bought it earlier and had not just downloaded for offline listening while on Apple Music subscription.

There is a way. Convert it to another format that Apple still supports (WAV, Apple Lossess or something else) and play it. The downside is you need to use iTunes sync or other music player app to play them.
Also, you can download other music app that supports iTunes library to play your music, such as Marvis or Cesium.

Are you sure that this is the version downloaded from iTunes and not from Apple Music? Have you tried deleting the song and redownloading if from Purchased in the iTunes Store?

I have the same issue with an album in my library, funny thing is it plays in iTunes but once synced to the phone it prompts me to purchase Apple Music.
