Music controls icon for no reason

Is anyone else getting the music controls icon (small red icon in place of notification dot) showing up randomly? The only way I get it to go away is start a song on my phone and then pause it.

Same thing here. Seems to have just started recently. Its annoying because its a red dot similar to notifications. Series 4 non LTE Nike.

I just got AirPods a couple of weeks ago, I'm sure it has something to do with that. Never had it before that.

If the Music app is open on your phone, if causes the icon to show on your watch. The only way I’ve found to get rid of it is to force close the Music app.

What I found out:
If I simpy take off the airpods, the music stops. But it is not "Stop" enough to let the red dot disappear.
If I first stop the music by double tapping my right airpod, then the icon will disappear.
