I'm just wondering if this is some kind of limitation but I've found that my iPod touch sometimes stops music playback whilst doing things like browsing using Safari.

I've had this happen randomly on the iPod app, Audiogalaxy and Spotify so far..

What happens is the music fades to silence, I then go back to the music app, restart playback then browse again and it fades out again shortly after.

Is this common to other people at all?

Yeah. Not jailbroken and running 4.3.3. I did restore from an iPhone 3GS tho. do you think it's worth clearing and setting up my iPod as new?

This does happen if you're loading a YouTube video or something else that would play audio. Could this be it?
