Music Files on Windows Server

I have a bunch of MP3's on my Windows server. Some of them show up when viewed from my iMac with the full filename intact, but the majority are reduced to 8.3 filenames. On the Windows server they have the full filename. Can't figure out the reason for this. I'll sometimes add a new song and it will show up with the full filename, other times a new added song will have an 8.3 filename when viewed from the iMac.
