Music genre change creates duplicates on iPhone

I have purchased some songs on my MacBook through iTunes that are originally listed with the genre "Holiday" and I changed this genre to "Christmas". After syncing with my iPhone 4S, I now have duplicates of each song; one for the Holiday genre and one for the Christmas genre. However, I do not have duplicates on my MacBook. Is this a bug with iCloud? Any suggestions for how to fix this?
