I was wondering what specs do you all use in terms of processor and RAM. 6-core? 8-core? And 32GB RAM? 64?

And if Logic Pro was your main software. Please feel free to post anything else you use in terms of speakers, external monitors, keyboards, etc

I have a 24” LG 4K I got from the apple store and it works great

Currently have a 15" 2018 MBP with 6 core i9, 32gb ram which is hooked up to a 5k ultrafine. Interface is an Apogee Ensemble thunderbolt hooked up to Yamaha HS8's (these are probably best in value for monitor speakers as you don't need a sub. If you're into heavy bass you're better off with HS7 or HS5 with the H8S sub depending on your room size). It's perfectly adequate for running Logic so long as you don't go too crazy with virtual orchestral instruments and I wish I could have added more ram when I bought it because they love ram. 16gb is the bare minimum for running logic IMO. 32gb minimum for sampled VI's. You will also want a fast external SSD for all your samples and you should never have them on the internal drive.

One thing I cannot stress enough is that if you do vocal recordings or anything else that needs a very quiet space to record in, the MacBook fan noise is a constant point of frustration. Having a nice big monitor plugged in only makes it worse because the dGPU is always on. I seriously regret not buying an iMac Pro instead at the time. Unless you absolutely need to be portable get an iMac 2020 or Mac Pro if you can swing it. The iMac Pro is too dated now to recommend unless you find a great deal on a used one.

Another thing I would strongly recommend is if you are a piano player, do not get anything but a weighted 88 key midi controller. Along with my digital piano I have a Nektar Panorama p6 which is great except the plastic synthesizer keys.
