Music player that can access iphone library

I don't want subscriptions or cloud services, I'm just looking to be able to connect my phone and access the media like I used to not long ago? Is this still possible?

I don't want to sync my iphone to every mac i have. and i don't want to have my library everywhere.

just found out i can install old itunes. i wish there was a simple app that all it does is access the library. I don't understand why homsharing doesn't work from iphone -> to computer
