iPod touch music transfer to ipod touch

My daughter wants an ipod touch for her birthday but my concern is, is it possible to transfer my mp3 library on my pc hdd to the ipod touch or does the music need to be purchased from itunes?

Just drop the mp3's in iTunes. They will sync to the touch.

Yes but the touch will not play all formats. You can use a program like handbrake to convert the video files.
