Music volume controls text volume?

I've read around on google/internet that the music volume button controls my text volume for when I receive a text. I've tried various 'fixes' but they don't seem to work.

Is there a real fix for this yet? I want my text volume button the same as my ringer volume, I can't seem to get it to match yet. I can play around with it until it does match, but as soon as I listen to music or use Siri, I lose it again.

My sound for texts is the same as my ringer. I always have my music volume all the way down and my ringer all the way up, and I always hear my texts
