Music Volume drops with notification

Not sure if this is a common problem. I sold my XS Max to a friend when I upgraded. She has just recently began having a problem where when she has Spotify open or anything with sound, the volume drops when a notification comes in and it doesn't come back up. It stays down. Restarting the phone seemed to fix it the first time but thats not something she would want to keep doing everytime this happens. Could this be something in the settings? She was using an iphone 6 before this and when she got this one she just restored from backup. Could going to "reset all settings" fix this?

What version of iOS is she running? Most likely she will have to do a hard factory reset.
