Music won't play on AW3

So I was at the gym today and was using just my watch with bluetooth earbuds. Halfway through my session, the music just paused. The earbuds were still connected, but the music wouldn't play. I pressed play on the song on the watch several times, but it just wouldn't play. Anyone have this happen to them or know of a fix?

It happened to me while on a run. Eventually I thought to restart and all was well. Thank goodness I wasn’t forced to listen to the sounds of nature! <shudder>

Same thing happens to be when paired to AirPods. After some searching in other forums, it sounds like this issue is more widespread than I thought. Hoping watch os5 will be The fix. I’ve tried everything including a complete wipe and setup as new.
