Hello All
Problem: I had to get a new iPhone, so I bought an iPhone 8 plus... I need to transfer music to the new phone
except, while I was working on my iPhone 5, I did not use iTunes with my music (held in separate folder)
when I got to my music folder, half the Artist folders were greyed out! the other half were fine,
Now on my iPhone 5 I have all my artists, and I'd like to "download" them to my MBP to fill in my Music folder
and then. sync with my iPhone 8 plus...
I have looked at some of the third party software for transferring, I'm sorry that they seem a little expensive
(OK I'm cheap, why do you think I still had an iPhone 5)... which btw looks like it just came out of its original box..
I've read about air drop, dropbox and email..
What I don't understand is how you can select the music on the iPhone to say email, which I think would be the easiest
way, as it would end up on my MBP and I could then place them back in the folders..
As anyone done this?
Another question is this, now that iTunes is no longer used in the later Mac OS, how does one sync with iPhones..
btw. my MBP is 2011...(cheap) but again like brand new...
Would really like some help with this music situation...
I would really prefer to download from my iPhone 5 back to my MBP...
without third party software...
thanks
take care
Best

There is literally no way to “transfer music from iPhone back to Mac/PC” without using special expensive third party software unless your music is stored in some third party music player like foobar2000. I know nPlayer can extract songs from iTunes library, but that one is expensive too.

BundleHunt sometimes have very good Mac software deal. You can check it out.
