"Neversong" is this week's addition to Apple Arcade on the iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, and Mac.

The game is described as a beautiful musical adventure:
Upon waking from a coma, Peet's girlfriend is nowhere to be found. Investigate the screams coming from the heart of Neverwood, the increasingly bizarre behavior of the zombie grownups, and the strange truth about Peet's past in this hauntingly dreamlike fable.

- From Red Wind Field to the haunting halls of Blackfork Asylum, explore six moody, illustrative levels.
- Take on bosses, monsters, and zombie grownups with your trusty baseball bat.
- Immerse yourself in a breathtaking piano-centric soundtrack.
- Join your quirky childhood pals and trusty pet bird on an adventure to discover the truth about your recent coma.
"Neversong" is available on the App Store with an Apple Arcade subscription. The service provides iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, and Mac users with access to over 100 games with no in-app purchases or ads for $4.99 per month or $49.99 per year.

Apple Arcade will really take off if (1) They get a "must play" game that convinces people to subscribe and/or (2) some well-known games decide to re-release under the arcade environment. I for one love the idea of no ads and no in-app purchases. But my wife and kids are looking for things like bejeweled, mariokart, etc.

In a parallel universe, 24 hours ago, Assassin's Creed Valhalla was announced for Xbox:

Also, Gears Tactics was released a few days ago - on Xbox Game Pass for PC:

There's nothing wrong with indie games. For example, Ron Gilbert's Thimbleweed Park is an amazing game. But when the release of an indie title is pumped up to headline news in the friendly press, then you have a serious content problem with your subscription service.

Completely agree. Olde Theme Park, Full Throttle, Monkey Island, they'd be great!

That's your opinion...i for one could care less about both games you just mentioned. Apple Arcade has tons of indie games that are perfect for me...that's why myself (and a lot others) got into IOS premium gaming in the first place. Apple Arcade has taken what us premium gamers love about IOS games and made it better. I have such a backlog of games to play now, and that's never happened before. So as a subscriber, i'm more than satisfied.

you can already buy 'full throttle' at a premium cost of $4.99 (which i own, of course)...i think premium games and Apple Arcade can exist cohesively. Since Apple Arcade has launched, devs have still been releasing games on their own (Kingdom: Two Crowns, Little Misfortune, Pascal's Wager, Summer Catchers, Forgotton Anne, The House of Da Vinci 2, Bad North, Dear Esther, Hyper Light Drifter and Dead Cells to name a few. I'm glad that i can still purchase games to own, but i'm also glad Apple Arcade is backing indie devs to make games that might never exist without their support; and of course, got devs to bring their ideas to the platform as mobile exclusive.

Sneaky Sasquatch, ATONE: Heart of the Elder Tree (absolutely brilliant), INMOST, Sayanara Wild Hearts, Shantae and the Seven Sirens, Tangle Tower, Oceanhorn 2, NeoCab, Over the Alps, Shinsekai: Into the Depths (masterpiece), etc. - these are just some of my favorites, but there's a ridiculous amount of variety and there is a quality/polish to each game that's been lacking in some previous IOS premium games.

And the games that keep coming and expected to come continue to justify this solid subscription service.
