Has anyone used this program from Predixis? I saw it on the Macworld website as part of a suite of products from Roxio. It is supposed to analyze your iTunes collection by how the song SOUNDS and help you build playlists based on the song or two (or ten) that you input as the "seeds."

I was wondering if anyone has any experience with the program and could tell me how well it works, as well as what the differences are between the paid and the free version.

It seems like a really cool program that, if it works like it says it does, could be a really cool program for making some neat CDs.

Thanks for your help.

Ah, I found the list of differences between the versions, of which the biggest for me personally would be the inability of the free version to use multiple songs to seed the playlist. You need the paid version for that.

Now, I'd just like to know if anyone's used the program and what they think of it.

I have the free version for windows and might i say that it works very well. All the songs that are in the playlist have the same feel to it.

according to the program, i have 4942 songs and 4902 of them are able to be used. Most likely because they are short files less than 10 secs in length.

the only problem that ive had is the sheer amount of time that it takes to analyze the songs. i dont leave my computer on all the time but whenever i wasnt using it and it was on i let the prog analyze the songs. it took about three days to do it. but like i said, its not as if it was three days straight.

one drawback to the free version that i feel constricted is the playlist restrictions. you can only have a maximum of 20 songs in the playlist. the premium version can have max size in MB and in minutes. the free is only a max of 20 songs.

other than that, it works great.

Thanks, frequeniquity, for your insight. I'll take a look at the review shortly.

I read the part about only being able to have a 20 song playlist, and while this seems like a little bit of a downer, it's not a huge deal for me personally. Most of the playlists I make are just so I can throw them onto a CD and play them in my car, which usually means about 17 songs. When I'm using my iPods, the majority of the time they are in shuffle mode.

I'll have to download and start indexing tonight. I've got about 2700 songs, so it'll take awhile, but I'm not concerned about that too much.

Thanks for your reply.
