Like the title says. I am a new iPad owner, in fact I am typing on it right now. What are some must have apps and please provide a brief description of what it is/does.

Thanks

The iPad really is a device you should customize yourself and is highly dependent on what you need on your ipad. I suggest you get on the app store on your iPad or computer and look at some of the popular apps they have.

Really, what do you want to use it for? If you can be specific i could be specific too....

OP, suggest you go to the iTunes store --> App Store --> iPad, and under quick links (upper right of the screen) check out iPad Apps Starter Kit. That should at least get you started.

Definitely Garageband. Whether you know how to play an instrument or not, it's definitely fun to play around with.

Atomic Web Browser and Infinity Blade
Atomic in my opinion is the best full featured web browser out for iOS (doesnt support flash btw)
Infinity just is a great game with excellent graphics must have.

Get yourself The Daily have a cup of coffee and read the newspaper :p

Trust me it's amazing

AVPlayerHD for watching movies and TV shows. Download any video format on your computer and then push to the iPad via iTunes or if the file is small enough just use wifi. You can create folders in AVPlayer as well

Zite and Flipboard for personalized magazine and news feeds

Week Cal HD was the ultimate calendar tool, but Apple took it away I think

Atomic Web Browser was the best, but again, Apple took the full version away. Terra is a good web browser and far better than Safari.

Quickpix is by far the best photo app. Nothing like being able to take 20 shots a second for sport mode.
My Photos is a good app to create folders and place pictures into said folders.
Snapseed is great for photo editing.

Dropbox and Dropcopy are great for moving files to the iPad wirelessly, like PDFs, mp3's, photos and the like.

Splashtop is great for remote controlling your Mac. Allows you to use Flash on your iPad, "virtually".

System Info free - a great utility app to tell you everything about your iPad, battery, network, etc

There are plenty of free ones for you to download and try. Try as many as you want before you start paying for them.
