I plan on getting an iMac, among other things the end of this week and this is what i have in my lineup:

1. iMac 20" alumn. 2.0ghz refurb
2. 2gb Ram via macsales
3. iWork
4. Hp C4280 printer
5. Samsung Nv15 camera

I already have a 500gb WD My book...
...So after rebates, etc. it comes to around 1,250 and I'm willing to spend $250 more. Any software that's not AS expensive at CS3, but gets the job done; or just important apps, things that would make it amazing, add-ons, etc.

Buy Applecare from LA Computer. Software is personal. Use what comes with the machine first. When that is not sufficient you will know the areas to look in next. Best wishes.

Extended warranty is a must.

External speakers, or maybe a program such as Parallels if you plan on using Windows.

Also, if you don't like the wires, you could purchase a wireless Mighty Mouse and Keyboard. I've had no complaints with my Mighty Mouse.

That's all I can think of right now. :)

Buy a decent mouse. The mighty mouse is the suck. I recommend the MX Revolution

Wow, I really like the MX Revolution. Hmm...maybe a wireless keyboard as well?
