Must I go to an AT&T store to switch phones?

I got a new 6+.

I am giving my 5 to my partner who is now using my old 4S. He doesn't care about having the latest phone so he's happy getting my hand-me-downs and it works out.

My 6+ is all set up and running.

I am currently restoring the 5 and I plan to use his last back-up to bring over all his data.

My question is do we have to visit the AT&T store to put his phone number on it? We did last time but I'm wondering if there's a way to do it all at home.

Yes. You need to get a new SIM from ATT. They are different sizes. If they weren't you could do it at home.
