Hi guys,

I've got an iPad 2 that needs a decent clear out. I was going to just restore to factory settings but I didn't know if this would force me to update to iOS9, from iOS6. I should've updated to 7 but I didn't, and I've heard 8 and 9 are awful for the iPad 2. Is there a way to wipe it without being pushed into 9?

As long as you just do Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Content And Settings then yes you will stay on iOS 6

However if you do a restore using iTunes then you will be updated to the latest version of iOS.

Thanks very much.

If the phone is not jailbroken you can always do Erase All Content and Settings. Otherwise it will stuck and you need to do hard reset and forced to install the latest IOS.
