Hi. I posted in yesterday's thread about "Running as admin vs running as limited user", and here is an issue about why I enabled Root in the first place...
I have a stand-alone Sony DVD burner for copying jpeg files directly off a camera flash card; don't need to use a computer at all. The Sony doesn't offer any options on formats. The DVD opens fine on a Windows XP machine, but on my Powerbook running 10.4.11 and logged in as an Administrator, the DVD mounts as a folder icon, but containing no files; there is a small red circle with a white slash (like a Do Not Enter sign) on the folder icon. When I login as Root though, the DVD mounts as a typical disc icon, and does open showing all of the jpeg files. In Get Info, all that the Permissions state is that I can read, and there is nothing regarding ownership. Any thoughts on this?
Jerry
