Just got an ipod video 5.5 and wanted to try keeping volume at same level when playing songs in random mode. The ipod has sound check but I didnt put my music into Ipod with it checked on in my imac itunes .Must i re-sync my songs to my Ipod 5.5 with sound check engaged in my Imac to get this option to work properly?

Looks like it just has to be turned on in iTunes first, then turned on from the settings on the iPod.

Taken from Apple's iPod feature guide

Looks like this in the current version of iTunes

Wish I knew this before but slipped my attention. Now i have to erase all my music and sync back to itunes with the sound check on in itunes.i have been using sound check on my ipod but it just seems to lower volume which I realized cant be right.
i wonder if when you copy a cd to Itunes you must keep the sound check on?If thats the case Im out of luck.
