Hey people,
I'm new here and this is my first post.
I have looked through but found no help with this problem.
A few months back I had a heart attack. Coming home from hospital I stepped out of the car, forgetting my 3GS was on my lap - it dropped to the pavement and received it's first few scratches to the corners of the casing. I was peeved but thought little of it.
Later in the week I noticed that flipping the toggle to mute no longer works properly: pushing the toggle all the way back and holding will keep it in mute mode, with the vibration indicating it so. However as soon as I stop holding it back it goes back to normal, while the toggle switch stays in the mute position. Applying a little pressure (very little) to the toggle switch causes it to vibrate again, but release it and the volume returns to normal.
While this is not a massive issue for me as I rarely require the ringer to be off, it is annoying when it flicks over to mute while in my pocket as once in that position the slightest movement of the phone in my pocket while walking causes it to vibrate. This is irritating but more importantly it drains the battery.
My question is, how do I go about a) fixing it myself or b) getting it fixed? or c) disabling the mute toggle function altogether (without jail-breaking)?
Thanks in advance for your help.
