I want to be able to play DVDs of any region in my MacBook Pro. I understand that the normal procedure is to identify the make and model of one's DVD drive hardware and then to flash the drive with hacked firmware.

I was wondering where I could buy a USB-connected external DVD drive and then flashing that, to avoid the risks associated with flashing my Mac.

Does anyone know whether this is a solution?
