Just chatted with an Apple specialist about this issue.Same question here, but with US Mobile. I remember in the past people would say to purchase the T Mobile version for some reason but can't recall exactly why.
Correct!Choose T-Mobile and you'll be fine, unless it asks for account information at checkout (which it hasn't in past years).
Anytime! Just did the same for myself.👏🏼Correct!
T Mobile did not ask for account info.
Friday preorder already set.
Thanks for your help!
Anyone know why Apple stopped the "unlocked device" purchase option from years ago ??
Anyone know why Apple stopped the "unlocked device" purchase option from years ago ??
I remember reading the same when they killed 0% financing on unlocked phones purchased with the Apple Card.IIRC, they did so at the behest of the carriers, but I'm not for sure on that.
It was available for the first couple of years since the card’s release, then they ended it.Unlocked with no carrier is still available as long as you're willing to pay in full. I don't think that option was ever available with 0% APR financing.
My Friday preorder is in so let's see if Apple delivers and I can get Visible to activate it.....Thanks for this thread. I also have Visible and was wondering the same thing. I selected T-Mobile. Fingers crossed everything goes smoothly![]()
There's no risk - all your money can be refunded if it doesn't work.I’m a little nervous doing this with so much money at risk. I’m with US Mobile.
VZW charges to transfer a phone over without a number change ???I just did the same. I’m going to try and activate with Verizon to avoid the $40 fee they charge.
If you choose Verizon they will charge you a $40 upgrade fee for transferring to new phone. It’s insane.VZW charges to transfer a phone over without a number change ???
Not that I am buying a new phone this year but you bought T-Mobile option and it’ll be unlock for visible? I have visible.Anyone know why Apple stopped the "unlocked device" purchase option from years ago ??
Yeah. Screw their loyal customers shelling out over $1,000 for phones and carrying their credit cards. I'm really ticked off at apple over this.Select T-Mobile.
IIRC, they did so at the behest of the carriers, but I'm not for sure on that.
