To all those deciding between a 15" and a 17" or glossy/matte. I have a matte screen and a 256 SSD, to my surprise I weighed it and it was a tiny fraction over 6llbs cf. 6.6 llbs apple advertised. This must be the lightest 17" notebook around.

It's a dream, and silent.

Matte screen likely less weight than the glass screen being the reason it's not 6.6 as advertised :) Either way still very mobile for a 17" laptop, and yes worth it's weight, not in gold though.. :p

Silly I know but the "worth the weight" made me think of gold so I had to compare.

17" UMBP would be 54oz x $950/oz (todays price) = $51,300 price tag!! ouch haha, I'll stick to the Aluminum version :)

Today's price of $1145/oz would make it $61,830 :)

Still had the site up with prices lol, but ya expensive. (http://www.kitco.com/market/) if your curious of other metals you do the match :p

I would take a silver one though!! Only $745 bucks! haha

that site is awesome thanks. silver would be cool. i think with the platinum tho we would need more than 6.6lbs to make an actual computer. it would probably end up weighing 40-50lbs. coasting about a million dollars.
