I have a 2007 15 inch macbook pro.

One day, all of a sudden it would not boot into the OS and it just shows the apple logo with the two glitches above and below it.

After the spinner goes for about a minute, I get an error message.

Does anyone know how I can determine what the problem is or run diagnostics on it?

The one picture is of your computer experiencing a kernel panic. This combined with the distortion on screen you are having an issue with your graphics card. Assuming this is a Mid 2007 model then you most likely have a unit that has a bad nVidia card. it was a known issue for these machines. I'd recommend bringing it to an Apple store or Authorized Service provider. They can run an nVidia test and confirm that. Unfortunately Apple is unable to repair this unit any longer as they no longer get parts for it and a third party provider will most likely not be cheap.
