Dear fellows,

I have an 27-inch 2.93GHz Intel Quad-Core i7 (Model 07/2010).

How much faster are the new iMacs?

I saw the new Thunderbold ports and the new Camera which I both not need at the moment.

For the CPU: I think the difference between my model and the new ones is not really big?

Greetings from Germany.

the top of the line imac cpu should have a pretty good performance boost over the last gen
But how much?
Is there really such a big difference between 2.93 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7 (07/2010) and 3,1 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5 (05/2011)?

You'd want the 3.4GHz i7. The i5 doesn't have hyper-threading and would be a downgrade in multi-threaded applications, although in single threaded applications the 3.1GHz would be better.

I would only be faster if I would buy the 3.4GHz i7?

So I can hold my iMac from 2010 and I would not need the new one and I could sleep better.;)
