With less than 24 hours of owning my 64GB Space Gray, I decided to see how my naked iPhone would do when dropped from chest high on to the tile floor of my house. I'm happy to report the phone handled the drop very well and only received a nasty ding and scuff on one corner. So for those of you itching to make sure the 5S holds up to a drop, I've gone ahead and blazed that trail for you.

I decided to see how my face would do when smashed off the pavement.

I'm happy to report I recieved a nasty ding and scuff to one corner of my skull, and am now spending 3 weeks in intensive care.

So for those of you itching to make sure your skull holds up to a faceplant, I've gone ahead and blazed that trail for you.

Being sarcastic. That's how I'm dealing with this tragedy.

Poor guy :(

I always hate to get that first scratch or ding. From then on I know it's not perfect like it was before :cries:

You had me confused before this post though since I was thinking "why the hell would someone pay an extra $200 for the 64GB (instead of the 16GB) if they are just going to break it with a drop test?

My brother got me one of the new leather red cases for the 5/5s so I'm using it on my phone til I receive my space gray 5s. Sorry to hear about your dinged up new phone.

*whooosh*

I lol'd so big props to the OP. I hope somebody filmed it so he will get some views at least. Now I will not be surprised if one of these days, we'll get threads like "My right ball worked but my left did not. Touch ID is a POS" ... "Hey, guys, gold iPhone is not pure gold. It is worthless!"

I'll admit it's hard to tell what type of message people try to say on the internet, but if you think about it... why would anyone waste a 64GB iPhone for a drop test?

The TC was telling a story of his misfortune.

:(

I'm guessing you didn't buy AppleCare+. Anyway, for $39 get the leather iPhone 5s case. It's next to impossible to get the phone out of the case, anyway (it took me about 10 minutes to figure it out), so don't think about it any further as you won't be able to see the damage.
