My 8G iPhone 4 has 6 gigabytes of "other"

So i tried syncing my 8 Gigabyte iPhone 4 to my MacBook Pro one day and i am met with this:

(not sure if that worked)
Anyway the whole bar was just filled with "other" the problem is i havent even filled up all the space on my phone, last time i checked before this happened i still had a couple G's left. I recently restored my phone when installing IOS 7 so I really hope I dont have to do this again. How do I fix this problem? Please help!

If I understand correctly, iOS 7 is going to occupy more space than your previous iOS, no matter which one that was. Also, if you have saved text messages with photos attached, they will also use up space quickly.

8 GB is pretty small.
