I have an Apple TV gen 4 with Sonos SL.
The sound is connected via the WiFi, ie via Airplay (2), and the picture via HDMI.

It works really goood, except for the thing that the Sound connection drops after an unknown amount of idle time. That means that it works perfect now, but after I have stopped watching TV, doing some other things, and then turn the things on again or continue wathcing, the sound would now be connected to the TV (instead of the Sonos). Ie, the sounds now streams via the HDMI output instead of AirPlay!

It's really annoying to have to connect the auido *every.effing.time* that I want to look at TV, and the whole purpose of my Sonos purchase a couple of months ago seems lost. :(

Do you guys have any ideas of what to do? Everything is updated to the latest software, and restarted a zillion times.

its just the way airplay on the atv is
happens the same way if you were sending to homepod

if you use the sonos app to play music on the speaker, it will release the airplay connection.
or if the aTV sleeps, same thing.

not what you want to hear, but if you get a beam from sonos, it will work all the time, since it's an HDMI connection, but your TV needs to support ARC. look at your HDMI inputs, one of them (probably #2) will say ARC on it if your TV supports.

you can then move the other speaker to another room, and use it there.
you can send TV audio using sonos to the other speaker (no airplay needed)
or if you have 2 matching sonos speakers you can use them for surrounds for the beam.
