I've put my Apple Watch into charge yesterday and after a while I realized it is not charging and apple logo shown constantly on it. I picked it up and it was extremely. It was then I realized the battery have expanded and shifted the screen up. I was so lucky I found it before it explode or something. I use to charge my watch and phone on my bedside, I couldn't imagine if this happens at night and it explodes into my face, or it it was unattended and causing a fire in my house. I wonder how can I raise it as complain to Apple and what sort of actions I can take? This was extremely disappointing.

Wow, I never considered this. Mine sits on my bedside practically aimed ay my face. I've seen Apple Watch batteries swell and pop the screen off like yours, but have they ever literally exploded?

Also, I wonder what would happen with mine if the battery attempted to pop the screen off since my watch is in an Otterbox case that presses down firmly along the bezel.

They puff up over time. It probably wouldn’t have exploded. It’s more likely that your battery expanded over a period of months if not years. Eventually the puffed batteries just finally push hard enough on the seal to pop the screen up.

IIRC this isn’t an issue, or at least is far less likely, on the Series 3 and up. In fact, some Series 3 units were covered under a replacement program after the battery pushed up on the glass causing cracks around the bezel.

When was the last time you used it? Or how frequently did you use it before it, as you say, “almost exploded?”

I have used it quite regularly and it was all good. I didn’t see any sign of battery issue or whatsoever. It happened suddenly and I picked it up from the charger it was extremely hot.

It might not explodes. I was just scared that it was extremely hot when I removed it from the charger. And I think it’s good we don’t charge our devices on the bedside at during when we sleep.
