My backlight went out on my 3Gs

I dropped my phone the other day in my kitchen. I picked it up and noticed that my backlight went out (my silent switch no longer works either, but im mainly concerned about my backlight right now). I opened up my phone, my 6r8 coil looks fine, i opened up to look at my LCD(maybe my lights got smashed?) and couldnt really tell. Then i just heard about a chip called "109b ic", im not quite sure what that is. I ordered the 6r8 coil from ebay since it is the cheapest. Whats your advice? Thanks!!

I'm having this same problem although, as far as I can remember, I didn't drop my phone. Were you able to fix yours and what did you do?
