My battery indicator doesn't update..?

Hi ya'll, me again lol, anyway I noticed today while at school that my computer battery indicator doesn't update. I was watching it and was midway through the day using my computer all day and it still said 100% with the full indicator and I was honestly so amazed and then I unselected the show percentage under the battery and it then suddenly changed the indicator to only being half full. When I re-enabled the percentage it all of a sudden read 54%. Is this a high Sierra issue (I'm on 10.13.3) or a my computer issue? It doesn't update the indicator either if the percentage doesn't show.

If its a new machine it can take a few battery cycles to get accurate.

But it doesn't update at all.. It will go for hours and not update unless I check and uncheck the percentage.
