My best option to upgrade 6+ Verizon?

I just left my local Verizon store and not sure the guy knows what he's talking about. Non-corporate store.

I have a 5s 32g that is currently in use. Also a 4s 16g not in use. Both in great shape. My 2yr Verizon contract is not up until 10/1/15. I wanted to trade both phones in $200 for the 4S and $300 for 5s that Verizon is promoting. Guy says that I'm not eligible for upgrade. If I want to pay full retail he could do that. Then give me maybe $100 for the 4s and $150 for the 5s.

There's got to be a better option without breaking the bank?

Go to a corporate store. Those resellers probably don't participate in the promos.
 
He doesnt know what he's talking about. Even if you pay full retail you still get the full amount.

If true I'm looking at $249 16g or $349 64g out of pocket to upgrade to the 6+?
