So I've had win7 installed on my 2009 Quad MacPro since about April. No problems. Last week, the keyboard shortcut no longer worked to get into bootcamp from boot - I always have to "restart in" from Mac OSX.
Now, when I get into bootcamp, every key I press mutes/unmutes the sound, using the mac shortcut - I get the indicator symbol flash on the screen. I have to go to the mac bootcamp panel, uncheck and check the "use F1-12 keys as default.." etc button. It then works fine.
I also have to unplug and plug in my mouse when I boot up for it to be detected. I get error pings when pressing keys on the keyboard at random, and I get odd behaviour sporadically in firefox - the "file" button flashes as if it is being pressed over and over at high speed.
Now, I get the volume indicator flash randomly in OSX as well, since the last few days. I'm wondering if this is a keyboard issue, as my mouse is plugged into my keyboard as well. However, after plugging in the mouse into a direct USB socket on the MPro, I had no change in the mouse behaviour.
Does anyone have any ideas on what could be causing all of this? I also had a drive die on me yesterday (this disc cannot be recognised by this computer), which was 5 years old so I'm hoping that it was just coincidence and not the start of the end for my mac?
I don't have another keyboard to try...
