My boy is 2 years old. He inserted a SD card and some other things in to the DVD drive of my 2010 iMac 27". So now, is there any ways I can get those stuffs out of my DVD drive?? Please advise...:mad:

it happened to me twice

turn off the machine, disconnect power cables
wait a bit

insert in the bottom of the dvd slot a screwdrive or something flat (a ruler ?)
try to 'feel' the SD
and then push it outside (drag, move it) and dont push the card more deeper

ofcourse, dont go swording in there
:eek::mad:

terrible twos .. note to self, when my boy turns two, keep him away from all electronics!

hope you are able to take all the stuff he inserted without damaging your mac

I'm embarrassed to say I did this. Tried to put the SD in the slot while facing the screen and not looking.

Needless to say, when it disappeared my heart sunk.

Call to apple, and it was a case of we need to look and take it apart.

Though I would have a go. I carefully tilted the iMac at an angle and got a ruler and done as the above said. I could feel the SD card get closer the the dvd slot and pried it out with the ruler as gently as I could.

Good luck.

I used an opened paperclip to drag it out when I did this. If all else fails, you can either live without the DVD drive (most people don't use it much) or replace it.

Look on the bright side, with such an imagination and curiosity he could be working for NASA one day :cool:
