My Brother LOST His Files?

Not sure what my brother did but he's telling me all the Files are gone. New to OSX, I gave him my old 17" 2.0GHz C2D iMac.

I looked and he created a New Folder, "RL" which is where ALL the files are in. But OSX starts in bembol (Home) and as an example, when I open iTunes it's empty so I'm not exactly sure what happened?
