My calculator is acting really strangely. For one, it won't quit. I have to force quit it every time. I'm thinking that I just need to delete the calculator on my computer and replace it with a new one? Is it anywhere on the install disks? Or could someone upload it somewhere for me to download?

Spotlight the file com.apple.calculator.plist or find it in the library/preferences folder inside your home directory and delete it first. EDIT: Do this when calculator is not running.

what model is it? is it a TI?
edit: read your post more carefully and noticed you meant os x calculator...

Love the 'tar.
:p

and
Macaddicttt, does the calculator widget do the same thing? I'd just use that.

make sure with both the widget and the application that you press the little "c". I would sometimes forget this and get some really strange results

Okay, I guess I should have been more specific. I mean Calculator.app, not the widget. The widget works fine. But I want to use Calculator.app do use it's scientific functions, etc. It has no problems calculating things, but when I tell it to quit, it won't, and when I switch it to graphing, it just is a big, blank brushed-metal window that won't change back to the Basic or Scientific calculator, either. Really, I think I need a new Calculator.app. I tried ditching the preference file, and that did nothing. So is it on the Tiger install disc anywhere or could someone please upload it somewhere so that I can have a fresh copy?

Thanks. That worked. But now there's no option to change to graphing calculator. Is that what was a problem with my original calculator? Should there be no graphing option? Or is this an older version of Calculator? Did Tiger add the graphing function?

Not sure what your problem is. I am on the latest version of Tiger.

I have the following options on my calculator:

Basic
Scientific
Programmer

Yes, that's what I have now thanks to your kind uploading. For some reason, my Calculator originally had the option after Scientific, but before Programmer of Graphing. That seems very odd to me because Tiger comes with an app specifically for graphing: Grapher.

Check your Utilities Folder (Applications>Utilities)

If not there here it is:

If I knew anything about Math I could have helped you sooner :(

grapher is AWESOME!!!

if you need any help using it, don't feel free to PM me. I had to work with it for about 40 hours to do a calc project.. bla

Thanks for the file, but no, I have Grapher. That's what's so puzzling to me. I have Grapher, a program just for graphing, yet my original Calculator had a Graphing feature that seemed to break it.

I downloaded Frisco's Calculator to replace mine, and it works fine. I did try deleting the plist, but that didn't do anything.

somewhat off topic...

does anyone else think the "Show Paper Tape" option is freakin' awesome? Makes balancing the checkbook so much easier.
