I was trying to remember a keyboard shortcut so i was playing around to see if it i can fig. it out... now when i type the computer talks to me..or it tells me what's its doing...like "closing menu" its freaking me out
Also my apple window some items are doubled....
Aso their is a black rectangle on the screen

Makes me think that one ask for confirmation (or display some kind of dialogue) while the other one doesn't. Plus the shortcuts for some of those differ (like Log Out having two different ones).
 
As for getting the computer to shut it's pie hole...

I believe it is the Voice over function you are referring to.

Thanks all, i looked under speech before i posted... didn't think to go to universal access

While you're there, check the Zoom Options to see if Show Preview Rectangle When Zoomed Out is checked. :)

I can't believe nobody's mentioned repairing permissions too (for the double menu items). :p
