so. i called a former cingular store today to ask about the iPhone. and the guy was like, well alot of stores that were previously cingular will most likely not have the phone on june 29th. we have them on "back-order", he said and they're not expecting them for a while after the launch. does this information sound accurate?

That sounds like he was referring to authorized resellers, not the corporate stores. One authorized reseller told me the same thing. Do you know if the store you talked to was a reseller?

he had referred to a corporate store that may have them. how do u know the difference?

If you search for a store on Cingular.com, it will say Cingular Wireless if its a corporate store. If it says anything else, it is not a corporate store. Be sure and let us know what type of store you contacted, as it will be valuable info if corporate stores are going to be backordered.
