You are chatting with Natasha, an Apple Expert
Her: Hi, my name is Natasha. Welcome to Apple!
Good evening.
How may I help you today?
Me: Hi. I was wondering... why did Apple get all the iPhone 3G stock while AT&T was stuck with nothing?
Her: Great question.
Both retail stores have the iPhone, AT&T may have been out.
While we do not sell the iPhone here online, we do offer the accessories and Applecare plan.
Would you like help with your shopping?
Me: Because I ordered an iPhone 3G from the AT&T store and they are telling me its backordered for 5-7 days. While, on the other hand, Apple stores still have iPhone 3G stock.
I don't think its very fair.
Her: Since the other retail stores are separate from us, I do not have the inventory of them.
OK, thanks. Bye.
Are you familiar with our AppleCare Protection Plan?

Apple gave more of their own product to their own stores instead of crappy AT&T stores.

My closest Apple Store is 16 miles away. My closest AT&T Store is less than two miles away.
Fail.
:(

I hope that 16 miles is a typo, cause that's really not that far away. Try over a hundred miles away for me, and I know I'm not the only one that would have a 2+ hour drive to go to an apple store, so please don't complain about 16 miles

I think apple stores are bigger and better staffed to handle the rush of people buying iphones.

Wow way to think that the shopper helpers would know anything about the decisions the company makes.

As the kids say these days I would consider this thread an epic fail.

I got mine from my local AT&T store. Arrived at 5am on launch day and was number 12 in line. The store had 40 iPhones, 20 8gb, 10 16gb White and 10 16gb Black. I wanted the 16gb black and given my position in line I had my choice of any version. The line had reached about 60 people by the 8am opening, so rougly 3/4 of us got iphones but some towards the back probably didn't have much of a selection. I had my purchase completed by around 8:45am (told to activate at home). I wasn't able to activate until around 5pm but since I had to work the wait wasn't a big deal for me. Later that evening I stopped by our local Apple store to look at cases and they had run out of iphones around 6pm, so they had WAY more stock than the AT&T stores which didn't even have enough to handle the initial lines when they opened. I am glad I had the fore-thought to arrive early. Lovin my new iPhone 3G!

I almost got my Iphone 3G black 16GB today at the apple store..but I was too late...I got there around 6:15PM and I got into the store...but there were only white 16GB left...I will try tommorrow.

Apple stores are getting shipment everyday....and selling out of all of them....
