Wow, looks painful! Get well soon! What is the procedure that was done to your wrist if I may ask? I am currently scheduled for a full wrist fusion surgery next month ( I am so nervous because I am going to lose all flexibility in my wrist) and I am trying to speak to others that have had the procedure done. Like I said, get well soon and happy birthday!

Thanks for your wishes :)

I fractured my scaffoid bone (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scaphoid_bone) and went in for surgery tuesday. I arrived there totally calm and ready to rock. after about 3 hours of briefing i was on my way to the surgery room. This is the ONLY part i was nervous throughout the whole procedure, seeing all the lights and tools . i was quickly given an iv and pumped a relaxent. i was chatting up with the doctors and then next thing i know im in the recovery room, its awesome :). i felt nothing, honestly, and i was so morphined up throughout my stay that i just slept for a few days and went home. the real pain starts at home :(. I would recomend asking to be put to sleep befoer going to the operating room. Good luck and have a speedy recovery!!! What led to requiring a wrist fusion, sounds awful

sorry for ttypos, hard with one hand :D

Man, that stinks about the pain. Hang in there. I fell and damaged the cartilage in my wrist and the tendons that control the up and down movement of my hand were torn in half and they had to be pulled down from up in my forearm. I have had two surgeries to repair the damage and to attempt to get my hand to move. No luck. I am in constant pain and don't sleep that much anymore. I am told the fusion will ease the pain, but I will lose all movement of my wrist/hand. My fingers will still work but very limited. At this point I haven't been able to move my wrist in over a year so the fusion will leave me in in the same shape I am in now. Thanks for advice on being put to sleep for the surgery. The first surgery I was put to sleep and the second one I wasn't. I will definitely be out cold for this next one.

Good luck with your recovery and rehab.

You're Amazing! Keep fighting through that pain! I cannot believe that youre still so active on the forums and stuff! I hope the surgery goes well! Who knows, in the comming years maybe someone will have a cure :). I reaally hope you get better, its been fun talking to a fellow injurie (even though yours makes mine look like a papercut :)) Good luck again and thanks for your wishes!

Bike wreck? Just guessing from the graphic in your sig...
Just do what they tell you and things will improve. If you have therapy as a follow-up, don't slack it at all.

My brother was an expert skier. The guy in front of him hit ice on a steep slope and went down. My brother cut a sharp turn and cracked right into a tree. He had those pin things in him from his foot up to his ribcage. He recovered and went back to skiing.

I went through a broken wrist experience when I was about your age as well.

Happy birthday! Get well soon!
