Hello,

for reasons unknown to me my deleted files/images etc. do not go to trash but disappear immediately, gone!
So no second chance - much needed by this scrambled head of mine.

How do I get my second chance back???

Thank You.

Are you deleting files off an external drive or internal. External drives will get removed immediately.

If external drives use HFS+ as file system, the files will go to the Trash first. The same applies for FAT32, NTFS (with NTFS write drivers for Mac OS X) and exFAT as file system on drives using the Master Boot Record partition map scheme.

Deletion

Hello,

this occurs from external and internal ie. internal OSX drive and thunderbolt/eSATA/usb3 externals - both documents and images.

All drives are HFS+

Still confused and seeking knowledge

Thank you

Put something from your Desktop in the trash then run the command below in Terminal (yoou will be asked for your password) and tell us if you can see the deleted file there.

Can you see the trash can in the Dock?

Code:
ls ~/.Trash

When I get back. I will try this. Probably Monday night.

Yes I remember the trash can being visible on my other machine.
