My .dmg files have quicktime icons. Why?

My .dmg files have quicktime icons, does anyone know why? Can I change this?

Oh dear. I know the feeling -- I just noticed my RTF files have DMG icons.

Do the files try to open with Quicktime?

Try repairing permissions and restarting.

I think what we're searching for is the OS X equivilent to rebuilding the desktop.

I've had a few problems with this. I just relaunched Finder and the problem was cleared up.

99% of the time this is a simple bug in the 10.3 Finder that's been there since day 1.

Leave your computer on for a while (few days'll usually do it), and things start developing the wrong icons. It's totally harmless, but annoying. Force Quitting the Finder will temporarily fix it, as will restarting. Otherwise, just ignore it and it will do no harm.
