I have no idea what happened, my dock just went away a minute ago and it won't come back. A restart didn't help. Any ideas?

Try going to System Prefs and make sure Hiding isn't enabled if that doesn't work go to Terminal and type in

killall Dock

If that doesn't work try Trashing the com.apple.dock.plist file in your home folder then Library then Preferences.

Hope that helps!

none of the above worked.

Ok, well I did a verify disk and once I did that the dock came back. I thought all was goood until the verify finished. The dock went away again. WTF? This is pissing me off.

repair permissions? Or repair disk from your install CD.
maybe you should check the log for errors.

I had the same problem, and this fixed it. Thank you!

Just for your future reference, this is the keyboard shortcut to turn on 'dock hiding'. It means the dock is hidden from view unless you move the mouse onto the bottom of the screen, where the dock will pop back up.

You can also turn it on and off in the Dock section of System Preferences.

As a small tangent...

Can anyone link to a download for the original OS 10.5 Dock package contents?

Thanks in advance.
